Redwood City – All San Mateo County residents are invited to learn steps they can take to protect their homes and family from wildfires, and other emergencies, at a free webinar on Tuesday, January 21.
Wildfires can strike with little or no warning. So taking steps now to protect your home and prepare your family can help reduce the threat as well as the stress during an emergency.
“These safety tips are for everyone, whether you live in a home in the woods or an apartment near a grove of trees that can send embers flying in intense winds,” said Shruti Dhapodkar, director of the County’s Department of Emergency Management. “The time to prepare is now.”
The free webinar will be held Tuesday from 4 to 4:45 p.m. on the Zoom platform. No registration or signup is required.
Topics will include:
- Easy steps to boost preparedness
- Packing your Go Bag
- Defensible space
- Free and low-cost resources
The family-friendly webinar also includes a virtual scavenger hunt with prizes.
The Department of Emergency Management is co-sponsoring the webinar with Thrive, the alliance of local nonprofits.
